Becoming Visible
Integrity. Community. Belonging.
Visibility is not vanity— it’s freedom!
October brings both celebration and reckoning: Coming Out Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Mental Health Awareness, and so much more. Each reminds us that being seen in a world that profits from our silence is an act of courage.
To stand firm in adversity is not easy work. It’s the work of warriors— the kind who fight not with weapons, but with truth, compassion, and community.

The shoot drops in November.
How do you navigate multiple points of tension in your identity? How do you find the courage to be all of who you are? How do you make yourself vulnerable enough for someone to share your story?

⭐Community Spotlight
We want to take this moment now to celebrate one of our community members… Perez Harrison Pratt! The entrepreneur recently founded Out And About Africa and serves as its Executive Director.
Out And About Africa is on a mission to bring people from diverse communities on a pathway to experience and encounter the beauty of Africa. Breathtaking landscapes, rich cultures, and vibrant communities… the continent has it all! And thanks to people such as Perez there ways to encounter Africa that are authentic, inclusive, and sustainable!
Fun fact: Perez and I met in person when I visited Johannesburg, South Africa in 2024. Born and raised in Ghana and navigating identity as a gay Black African man, Perez knows how it feels to be the only in many spaces. We discussed some of these experiences in a 2-part feature on Insight with Justin G. Cobb’s Spotify. Both Part 1 and Part 2 are available to listen.
You can learn more about Out And About Africa and join them for your next venture to the continent.
Last week I spoke about the Harvest Moon— reaping what we sow and reclaiming what it means to be a warrior.
This week, as I sit at my desk with the world spinning fast, I find myself asking: what does it mean to stand firm in uncertain times?
October is a month of transformation— filled with holy days, remembrance, and the ache of what’s unfolding around us.
This week alone we observed Sukkhot, one of the holiest periods in the Jewish calendar, and remembered October 7, a day whose aftershocks continue to shape our world.
What happens abroad never stays abroad. Its ripples reach every border, reminding us that the fight for justice, truth, and belonging is deeply intertwined.
When I began Insight with Justin G. Cobb, it was simply a way to heal. Now, it’s a global platform that connects people across continents and causes— a growing ecosystem of storytellers, leaders, and dreamers committed to building a world where belonging is felt from Day One.
Amid all the noise, I keep coming back to this: Chosen Family is real.
Some of us are lucky to have biological families who nurture us; others find that kinship through art, community, and shared purpose. Either way, our belonging is something we create— together.
This month, as we honor events including LGBTQIA+ History Month, Black History Month (UK), Latine Heritage Month, Coming Out Day, Mental Health Day, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I want to bring us back to one simple truth:
Visibility without integrity is noise.
Visibility rooted in purpose becomes legacy.
Read on to look at how integrity serves our quest to build more inclusive environments.
